Sometimes I stop and think and analyze the things I see
Children needing food and clothes with urgency
Their passion and their youth have been watched away
They’re roaming on the streets every day
Many want unity But are afraid of change you see
Tell me how to explain these modern day tragedies
Is there hope for you and form me

What happened to our purpose, our integrity
Oooo, la,la from place to place we see the faces
Of the children crying out all from different races
Oooo, la,la, Oooo, la,la, tell me what do we do
Or do you even care cause you don’t walk in their shoes
Mama is trying, fighting to survive to make things okay
When she comes home, kick off her shoes, on the floor she lays
Wounded like a soldier but nevertheless she prays
For the children she saw hanging on the corner street that day
They cussing and cursing, smoking, drinking, Russian roulette they play
Devastated, in dismay, I heard her cry and say
Many want unity But are afraid of change you see
Tell me how to explain these modern day tragedies
